Lowenstein Is Third Best Ivy Passer

Varsity football captain-elect, Carrell Lowenstein finished third in Ivy League passing and fourth in individual offense, according to figures released yesterday.

Lowenstein trailed Mitchell Price, of Columbia, and Reds Bagnell, of Penn, in passing; despite the fact that his rushing total was minus 88 yards, his 882 total offense figure was sufficient to gain him fourth place behind Bagnell, Princeton's Dick Kazmaier, and Price.

Princeton ran off with team offense boners, gaining an average of 433.7 yards per game, while Harvard placed last on this department, as well as on team defense, which went to Cornell.

Kazmaier Led in Rushing

Other individual leaders were Kazmaier (rushing--707 yards), Brown's Bob MacConnell (Punting--39.2 yards), Columbia's Don McLean (receiving--492 yards), and Penn's Alan Corbo and Princeton's Jack Davison (scoring--60 points each).

In eastern intercollegiate statistics, the only mention of Harvard was in passing defense, where the Crimson ranked fourth, one place ahead of Army. Princeton again led the field in total offense, while the Cadets were tops in total defense.

Individually, Ted Marchibroda, of St. Bonaventrue, led in total offense and forward passing, and Larchmont Dixie Boyne, of Lehigh, was the leading rusher. Bagnell, Holy Cross' Charlie Maloy, and Kazmaier trailed Marchibroda in total offense while Kazmaier finished second in rushing and Yale's Ed Senay fourth.

Maloy finished third in forward passing as Doyne beating out MacConnell for punting honors.
