Yardling intramural basketball opened last night with four games in the American League. National League competition will get underway tonight.

In the first game of the evening, a well-balanced Matthews North team defeated Stoughton, 21 to 19. Al Aaron and "C.J." Clark tied for Matthews scoring honors with six points. Straus North won, 12 to 4, against Thayer South.

Norm Hall scored the shot that gave Thayer Middle a 21 to 18 win over Holworthy. Wigglesworth East, aided by John Griner's ten points, took Weld South, 22 to 19. Lionel was inactive, after drawing a bye.

Stoughton, at the beginning of the basketball season, is leading in the Yard intramurals.
