To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

I have been terribly misunderstood in Wednesday's CRIMSON. This is probably caused by a misunderstanding of one of your reporters. He saw me about a week ago, and our discussion was mainly concerned with Harvard football. We both came to the conclusion that the attitude toward football could be brought up, and the best way to improve this attitude was to start with the freshman class.

We agreed that if the spirit was brought up it would give the incentive to play to many more players, thus making Harvard teams better. The reporter's misunderstanding was in thinking that freshman football players were down and spiritless. This is not true; I have never made such a statement. The players' spirit has been excellent for each and every game, and to confirm this statement come over and see us play Yale.

The CRIMSON article was a great injustice to Mr. Lamar, to my fellow players, and to me. Richard Clasby '54   Captain of the Freshman Football Team

The information was completely accurate. Mr. Clasby's statements were made on Tuesday night before two reporters and the chairman of the Athletic Committee of the Freshman Union Committee.
