Thayer North, National League leader in freshman touch football, fought 30 minutes to a 0 to 0 deadlock with Matthews South in one of six freshman games yesterday.
In another National League contest, Wigglesworth West crushed Mower, 37 to 2. "Flash" Flickinger threw four touchdown passes and scored a fifth on a run through the middle of the Mower men. A third National League game left Weld and Hollis in a 12 to 12 tie.
In the American League, Stoughton's top team led by Stove Franschi took a 15 to 0 victory from Thayer North. Franschi scored eight of the points. Sid Singer and Pete Neumann made the two touchdowns that enabled Straus North to defeat Thayer South, 14 to 0. Lionel beat Matthews North, 18 to 6, with the pass combination of John Bray and Neil Bortz scoring two touchdowns.
Thayer North heads the National League with two wins and one tie. Stoughton has a firm grip on first place in the American League, having won three with no losses or ties.
