Eliot Scores 24-0 Levered Victory As Puritans Win

Undefeated Eliot maintained its member one position in this House football league by trouncing Levered, 24 to 0, at Soldiers Field yesterday. In the other game, Winthrop asked out a 6 to 0 victory over Kirkland.

Even Leverett's brass hand, led this time by a six-foot white rabbit, failed to step a strong, elephant single-wing running attack that scored in every quarter and handed the Bunnies their fourth defeat of the season.

In the first quarter, Eliot moved slowly downfield, hindered only by a fumble recovered by Leverett's Sam Paschal. After Levered played out their four downs, Elephant Charlie Cabot set up the score with a 10 yard run for a first down. Steve Goodie, on an end sweep, skirted the Levered line into the end zone. Eliot failed to convert after every touchdown.

The Bunnies nearly withstood another Elephant charge in the second quarter. Eliot completed a last down pass, and Hank Greenberg used the opportunity to score on a quarterback snack.

Jerry Gall made Leverett's only scoring threat in the second quarter by nabbing a pass for a 35 yard gain. Eliot, however, recovered a fumble on the following play.

Riley Gilbert scored in the third quarter for the Elephants with an end run. In the final quarter, playing in the dark, Elephant Fred Rhinelandere managed to snack across the goal line again to make the fourth touchdown.

Winthrop 6, Kirkland 0

Action in the Wintrhop-Kirkland tilt see-sawed between the 30-yard lines throughout the first half.

Jack Manning made the single Winthrop score when he drove through the Deacon line from the ten. With two minutes to play, the deacons nearly tied it up, but lost their chance on a bad center to Dick Larkin.

Today's House league double-header will close the season except for next Friday's games with Yale. Starting at 3:15 this afternoon at Soldiers Field, second-place Lowell faces win-less deadly while Adams takes on Duster.
