"Application of the world's wealth to the world's needs" is the only answer to Communism, British Minister of State Kenneth Younger told 500 persons in New Lecture Hall last night.
Younger said that "Communism has been called into existence by widespread dissatisfaction with material achievements and the spiritual inspiration offered by society." We must find a better way than the Communists of satisfying these grievances, he added.
Younger asked democracies to lay out money and effort on backward areas; to "organize welfare and opportunity for the masses by the use of communal resources"; and to "provide the main support for popular education, for research, and for the artists."
The speech was sponsored by the International Students Association.
