Three Crimes Mar Football Weekend Joy

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Three minor crimes took place in the Cambridge area over the weekend as residents and guests revolved at football weekend celebrations.

The largest felony, a theft of $1,000 from the safe of the oxford Grill, is the only one which showed signs of professional polish. It occurred after the restaurant had closed, and Lt. Joseph Breen, who is conducting the police investigation, has put forward the theory that the thief hid himself in the basement, making his way to the office after everyone had left.

The safe was opened by combination, indicating that the burglar was either a professional operative or "on the inside," according to Lt. Breen.

Two other robberies of a more elementary nature occurred in the immediate College area. A car belonging to Bruce Horowitz '50 was parked in the Soldiers Field parking lot during the football game. A window was forced open and a suitcase belonging to Horewitz's date was stolen. The case contained a dress and valuable jewelry.

Commuter's Car Robbed

Another car, this one belonging to Forest L. Gould '52, a commuter from Bellview Street, Cambridge, was unlocked by a thief who broke the right front ventilator window, and then stole a brown handbag containing money and jewelry.

A further casualty was the Square traffic box and its occupant, Officer Charles Delany. At 12:35 a.m. yesterday, Delany was injured when a Buick sedan struck the box. The extent of Delany's injures has not yet been determined.
