In the National League openers yesterday, Thayer North beat Straus south, 6 to 0; and Weld picked up a 1 to 0 forfeit win over Mower. Hollis tied Matthews South, and Wigglesworth West tied Massachusetts, by identical 6 to 6 scores.
Tom Cattell scored both touchdowns as Holworthy whipped Thayer South, 12 to 0 in an American League contest on Thursday. Meanwhile, Matthews North star Anthony Van Wye passed and ran his team to an 18 to 6 win over Wigglesworth East.
