Two Crews Race With Tech, Union Club, Dartmouth

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A "varsity" crew--which in fact will not have a single man from last year's varsity rowing in it--will today row one mile in a genteel race on the Charles. They will face crews from M.I.T., Dartmouth, and the Union Boat Club of Boston at 1:30 p.m.

Though the Crimson and Tech are the two top crews of the East, today's race will be completely meaningless. Both the Harvard and the Tech entries will be planned by oarsmen who rowed in the second or third boat or on freshmen crews last year.

One of Two

The regatta is one of two scheduled for the crews this fall so that their daily practices will be spelled by some kind of competition.

Head coach Tom Bolles has been working out five and sometimes six boats every afternoon.

Several boatleads of 150 oarsmen and a crop of freshmen also work out each day under Bert Haines and Harvey Love, respectively.

The lightweights will race at 12:20 p.m. today.
