Lawrence Coolidge '27, Overseer of the University and former assistant dean of the College, died Tuesday at the Beverly Hospital. Funeral services will be held today at Christ Church in Hamilton.
Coolidge, a member of the law firm of Loring, Coolidge, Noble and Royd, was also chairman of the Harvard Fund Council and a director of the Alumni Association. He served as trustee or director of the National Shawmut Bank and the Suffolk Savings Bank, the Boston Chapter of the Red Cross, and of several hospitals.
After obtaining his A.B. cum laude in 1927, Coolidge attended the Law School, getting his degree there in 1931. He prepared for college at Groton School. Coolidge was a member of both the Harvard Club of Boston and of New York.
He was also a noted sailor, having once sailed with give others from Boston to Falmouth, England, in a 40-foot best. He leaves his wife and three sons.
