H. V. Kaltenborn '09, radio news commentator, disclosed in a recent letter to the CRIMSON that he had sent "a small contribution to the Harvard Radio Network to help offset any possible loss . . . in advertising revenue" incurred from any comments detrimental to WHRB he made at the Law School Forum on December 17.
Kaltenborn had said at the Law School Forum that the network's programs were just as "wicked" as the professional stations. He commented that the University probably preferred to listen to regular networks. In his letter Kaltenborn said that these statements "probably did an injustice to the network."
Officials of WHRB declined to comment last night on the amount of Kaltenborn's contribution.
