Harvard's still-unrecognized chapter of the American Association for the Advancement of Colored People took no part in drafting the letter to President Conant decrying the Naval loyalty oath, the group said yesterday.

Over the weekend Roy F. Gootenberg '49 1PA, chairman of the local American Veterans Committee chapter, announced that nine clubs--including NAACP--had drawn up a letter Saturday after a five-hour meeting in Phillips Brooks House.

But yesterday Walter Carrington '52, president of the NAACP chapter, explained that the group had no hand in the meeting and didn't want to take action on anything until it was recognied.
