Radcliffe Juniors Set New Mark for Athletic Probation

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Radcliffe's class of 1951 sets a new physical education probation record this fall.

Seventy-two members of the class are due to register for the fall gym courses regularly required for freshmen and sophomores. The new total of juniors on gym pro notably tops last year's number of 41 girls who failed to complete the two-year gym requirements.

A girl on gym probation is ineligible for office and until she removes the deficit terms may not participate in extracurricular activities. Holding a scholarship is also contingent on completing the requirement before the beginning of the spring term.

Gym pro, however, involves no social restrictions.

Dean Sherman credited the large pro total to the fact that in the sophomore year girls found it difficult to work the gym program into their courses of study. In special cases of a failure in any one gym period, the College, she added, waives probation rules through the fall term.
