The Crimson baseball team today gets a chance to see what effects if any can be caused by the disease "exam activity" when it answers a challenge by an alumni group at 3 p.m. today on Soldiers Field.
Out of action since its May 30 game with Brown, the squad has been carrying on only informal practice for the past two weeks. Next Saturday against Tufts the varsity must be back in action officially for its warmup for the two Yale games Monday, June 20 in New Haven, and Wednesday, June 24 at Soldiers Field.
Today's alumni game--the result of a bid made by former Crimson catcher Bill Hamlen--will be played under game conditions but is billed as "informal." As a result Coach Stuffy McInnis will probably give Ira Godin, Barry Turner, and Ralph Hymans all a chance to do some pitching.
Dunn, Crosby Absent
Stuffy's lineup will be complete except for shortstop Mort Dunn and catcher Cliff Crosby who instead will amuse themselves with exam-time occupations.
Hamlen, who two year's ago was the Crimson's most valuable player, has gathered a good team. It includes the captains of the last two years, John Coppinger and Jack Forte, as well as pitchers Red Connally and Brendon Riley.
