'52 Crew Takes 5 Boat Regatta

So fast was the time of the freshman crew in its Saturday race that it could have easily placed third in the record shattering varsity race. As it was, the '52 oarsmen's 8:54, which set a record for freshman rowing on the Charles, was more than sufficient to beat MIT, their perennial rival by more than a length and a half.

More than a length behind Tech, Navy eased past the MIT boathouse with Pennsylvania a bare half length behind it. Columbia drifted across the finish line five lengths and 40 seconds later.
