Teaching Fellow Is Yanked From Charles by Police

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Robert Endelman 2G, teaching fellow in Social Relations, was pulled out of the Charles River at 2:50 p.m. yesterday afternoon by Cambridge police after he jumped or fell from the Western Avenue bridge.

He swam back to the bridge and hung on to one of the supports until police pulled him up. A Metropolitan District Commission launch arrived just after the rescue was effected.

Endelman was taken immediately to Cambridge City Hospital and transferred at about 4:30 p.m. to Stillman Infirmary. His condition is reported good. He suffered no injuries.

Cambridge police have been unable to pursue any inquiry into whether or not Endelman was attempting suicide since Stillman authorities do not allow police to interrogate patients.
