Whether or not the Band will accompany the football team to Stanford this September depends on the success of a two-man campaign for $25,000 to be conducted this summer, Manger Paul B. Finney '50 announced yesterday.
Two Band member, Joseph J. Borgotti, Jr. '45, a former manager, and William J. Reinhardt '47, will be selling "Half Time" Albums and soliciting alumni throughout the New England area in an effort to raise enough funds to send at least 80 men west. If the $25,000 minimum cannot be raised, no Band members will play at Stanford.
University Hall has already granted the Band permission to register for the fall term on September 27, the Tuesday following the game, thus enabling the Band to return to Cambridge by train.
No Concerts En Route
Finney said no money-raising concerts are contemplated on the way, since the Band will not have gathered its full membership until it reaches Palo Alto. However, if the trip is possible, the Band will probably play at a projected dance in the Stanford gymnasium the eve of the game.
Finney also announced a seven-event program for the Band during commencement week, June 19 to 23. Included is music for Class Day, the Radcliffe Commencement, the Harvard-Yale baseball game, two Yard concerts, and the alumni meeting.
The Band will be playing later in the month, aboard an excursion steamer, at the Harvard-Yale crew races on June 25 at New London, Conn.
