Pitcher Dusty Cook makes his first start of the season for the freshman baseball team at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon on Soldiers Field against Went work.
Coach Dolph Samborski is still undecided about his outfield, he said last night. Ben Akillian is a sure starter in centerfield, and Captain Jack Donelan will be out there somewhere, in either right or left, whenever he isn't pitching.
Bobby Thompson will probably fill out the trio today, playing right field as usual, but Ralph Robinson's showing in yesterday's squad scrimmage with Rindge Tech may rate him a starting roie.
Charlie Cabot will be at shortstop for the third game in a row, since Henry Young the usual starter is still in Stillman Infirmary with a leg infection.
Probable batting order: Carduff, 2b; Hickey, 3b; Akillian, cf; Donelan, lf; Wise, lb; Thompson, rf; Cook, p; Cabot, ss; Goodman, c.
In a seven inning practice game yesterday afternoon, the freshman reserves downed Rindge Tech, 4 to 0. Neil Howland pitched a no hit game while his mates reached three Tech hurlers for seven hits. Three hits a couple of errors and a perfect squeeze bunt provided the margin of victory.
