The freshman tennis team defeated the Brown freshman by an even larger score than the varsity took the big Bruins by yesterday afternoon on the Soldiers Field courts. Every match was won by the Crimson with only the second singles and the first doubles going to three sets.
Coach Corey Wynn had nothing but praise for the number two singles player from Brown. It was he who caused Gerry Murphy to go to three sets before winning.
The only other major deviation from the normal lineup in this match occurred in the number three doubles match. Dick Decker, who generally plays third doubles with Rog Swanson, was ill. Humph Doerman and John Tanger took over the slot and came through with a resounding win.
Wynn announced great satisfaction last night with the way the team is shaping up.
