Hitless Deacons Bow to Adams, 4-3

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Roger Davis of Adams pitched a no-hitter yesterday to lead his team in a 4 to 3 victory over Kirkland, last year's champion club, while Winthrop edged out Leverett, 6 to 5.

Kirkland sneaked ahead, 3 to 0, in the third inning on three walks, a two-base error, and a steal, but the Gold Coasters bounded back with two tallies in the top half of the inning and another in the next to tie the score.

Joe Kayol and Willy Braun singled for Adams in the fifth frame, Kayol scoring the winning run on a fly by Bob Parker. These were the only two hits allowed by Deacon pitcher Pete Weber.

In the other game two balks called on Bunny pitcher Dick Reynolds in the sixth inning netted two runs and made all the difference in the Puritan win over Leverett.

In softball Eliot embarrassed Dunster, 30 to 4, and Dudley defeated Lowell, 9 to 7.

Leverett beat Eliot, 3 to 2, and Winthrop blanked Dudley, 5 love in tennis.
