Spider Webb slung seven innings of two-hit shutout ball at New Prep yesterday before Coach Dolph Samborski took pity and inserted Dusty Cook in his place. The freshman defense opened up to allow two runs on one hit in the eighth, before darkness closed in on the '52 nine's 16 to 2 victory.
Neither Webb nor Cook gave up a walk, while Webb struck out five and Cook one. Two New Prep hurlers combined to contribute 11 bases on balls to the freshman's 14 hit blasting, striking out but four.
After a lone run in the third inning on Charlie Cabot's single, the freshmen brought nine men to the plate in the fourth to collect four runs on one-baggers by Bill Hickey, Tim Wise, and Win Carduff.
