Every imaginable kind of swimming will take place at the Blackhouse pool this afternoon for the benefit of the American Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. The show is open to the public. Student Coupons will not be accepted.
The A.A.H.P.E.R. is holding a convention in Boston this week and the proceedings in the pool are designed to both educate and entertain the delegates to this convention.
Hal Ulen, Harvard's varsity swimming coach, has been named chairman of the demonstration committee. He has scheduled such events as life saving and stroke instruction, techniques of swimming for the blind and handicapped, and competitive diving and swimming.
This last aspect of the program will include Vicki Brazes, high and low board Olympic diving champion, Joe Verdure, former national breaststroke champion, and Mary Hutton, a "water trickster" from Canada.
Alan Stack, captain of the Yale swimming team and backstroke record holder, will also appear, along with the all-conquering Yale medley relay team.
Rounding out the afternoon's program will be a group from Buster Crabbe's Aquaparade currently appearing at the Boston Arena and three water ballet teams from Smith, Wellesley, and Wheaton. These teams will perform separately, though not competitively.
Besides Mary Hutton, the delegation from the St. Botolph Street Arena will feature Stuffy Kruger, an Olympic champion of years ago and now a comedian.
Harvard swimmers in this show, which lasts from 4 to 6 p.m., will be used to instruct in life saving and swimming techniques.
