Stickmen Out for Revenge On Veterans Here Today

They'll be playing the "fastest game on two feet" down on the Business School field at 2:30 p.m., but the spectator public will be watching the baseball game, or the internationally-minded rugger team over on Soldiers Field.

The yucks who don't go and see the lacrosse team play Boston Lacrosse Club today will never know what they missed: the most colorful group of ex-athlete businessmen in existence playing one of the potentially top teams of New England in one of the most unusual and intriguing sports in the world.

Picnic-Style

The last time the varsity played BLC, back in March, a whole horde of former Harvard football and lacrosse greats turned out for BLC. They waggled their growing potbellies in the first real sun of the year, walked on and off the field whenever they wanted a drink, and adroitly wrested a 5 to 2 victory from the earnest and sweating varsity.

Varsity Now Wary

That was a practice game, however, and the varsity players are prepared to give their crafty elders the works.

A four game spring tour, featuring games with Navy and Maryland, among the leading lacrosse powers in the nation, gave Coach Bruce Munro a chance to see the team's weaknesses. Now, a full week of careful work on the sore spots has brought the team up to efficient operation.

Midfielders Like Files

Munro is going to have about 30 men dressing for the game, practically all of them midfielders--he is still juggling four separate midfield units in an attempt to find the best two.

The attack is certain, at least till Lew Soule's shoulders unseparate. Dick Bezanson takes the crease, and Rick Hudner and Hans Estin the feeding slots.

Defense too, is set--until Don Page recovers from his knee injury--with Captain Bob Forsyth, Dick Hansen, and Frod Coburn.

Algy Allen rates just above Sid Clark at goal, but Clark will probably see some action.

The following are the top three midfields: Paul Birdsall, Boog Davidson, and Dick Post who start today; Bob Lange, Will Kegg, and Bill Graham, with Dunc Mauran filling in; Wilbur Davis, Ed Thayer, and Dave Waring.

Any team that practices on a day like yesterday, with fog and cold and all, certainly deserves to win. BLC most certainly didn't practice.
