HUA Election Will Feature No Referenda or Survey Questions
James L. O'Dea, Jr. 1G will sit in the State legislature next fall by virtue of his win in the Democratic primary held Tuesday in the fifteenth Middlesex District. In the Lowell district, a win in the Democratic primaries has always been equivalent to a win in the election.
The Americans for Democratic Action and its student affiliate at Harvard, the Liberal Union, heavily supported O'Dea's candidacy. His win marks the first time anyone has won a primary solely with ADA backing.
O'Dea majors in Government at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He received a degree from the Law School last year, four years after being graduated from Notre Dame. O'Dea practices law in Lowell, where in also serves as Supreme Court clerk. He is chairman of the Lowell chapter of the ADA and belongs to the HLU.
