From Dave Egan's column "The Colonel Says" in the Boston Daily Record.
"Tennessee will illustrate to New England, by its hell-for-leather manner of flay, the dry rot and decay which have overthrown the Harvard and Dartmouths and Browns here in a corner of the country where college football players are strict amateurs and play like strict amateurs." November 13.
"Ivy League--the football equivalent of the Appalachian League. . . . Yale soon will join Penn in out-classing the holy Harvards, the devont Dartmouths, and the better-than-thou Browns." November 14.
"The Lynn Classical and Revere High game will draw more cash customers than Harvard-Brown. In addition, it undoubtedly will be a much better game of football. . . . Harvard-Brown--a squat-tag game masquerading under the name of football." November 16.
"Except for a couple of family quarrels in which the outside world has not the faintest interest, another bogus football season now has run its counterfeit course here in New England. . . The shabby gentility of Harvard and Yale will play their meaningless little game to decide the championship of the Thwarted Three." November 18.
"The Yale offense will be solved by Prof. Harlow, if at all, only by the use of eleven ringers, each of whom is carrying a concealed weapon. . . IIf he is a genius, he now has a glittering opportunity to prove it, for otherwise Yale will sit down and eat Harvard one by one." November 20.
