Amherst Figures To Give Fencers Little Competition

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach Rene Peroy doesn't know a thing about Amherst's fencing team, but he isn't expecting much trouble when it duels his varsity swordsmen at 3 p.m. today in the Blockhouse. The Lord Jeffs have never been a power in Eastern fencing competition.

Peroy will field the same team he has used all season.

Students who want a quick glance at a fencing meet should show up around 4:30 p.m., Peroy said. That's when the saber matches usually begin, and it's in saber that the swordsmen have their field day.

Peroy also announced last night that the team hoped to buy an electric epee next year. The epee rings a bell and flashes a light when a touch is scored.
