The combined House and freshman boxing tournament starts at 3 p.m. today in the Blockhouse boxing room. Weighing-in must be completed by noon and drawings will be posted in the gym by 1:30.
This is the first of three tourneys that Henry Lamar and Dolph Samborski, director of intramurals, will conduct this spring, and it is the first time the freshmen have been included in the College tournament. About 35 entries from the Yard and 45 from the Houses are expected.
Trials will take place today, semi-finals tomorrow in the third-floor boxing room, and finals Thursday night in the Blockhouse gym. All refereeing will be done by officials approved by the state boxing commission.
Lamer has been conducting daily classes since November for advanced and beginning boxers, and many of his pupils shape up as the leading contenders. The tournament will be divided into eight weight groups--125, 130, 135, 145, 155, 165, 175, and unlimited.
