Final Relay Decides Meet as Indian Swimmers Win 43-32

Jack McIntyre, Dartmouth record-holder in the 100-yard freestyle, edged Joe Fox in the last lap of the 400-yard freestyle relay to give the Green a 43 to 32 victory over Hal Ulen's varsity swimmers at the Blockhouse Saturday night.

Earlier in the evening, the Dartmouth freshmen defeated their Crimson counterparts, 45 to 30

It was the third time in the meet that McIntyre had worked himself out in front of Fox. In both the 50-and 100-yard freestyle, and again in the relay, McIntyre forced Fox to settle for second place. Time for the 50-yard freestyle was 23.5 and for the 100-yard freestyle, 52.6.

Bob Berke won the 220-yard freestyle in 2:17.6 while Captain Jerry Gorman battled for second place, beating Dartmouth's Solberg by inches. In the 150-yard backstroke, Tom Woods and John Steinhardt placed second and third after Jackson had won the event in 1:41.4.

Hoelzer Loses

Frank Bruch, Dartmouth breaststroker, led Chuck Hoelzer all the way in the 200-yard breast stroke and won the event by six feet in 2:25.8. Larry Ward took third in the same race. As usual, Ted Norris came through to win in the 440-yard freestyle. His time was 5.04.6.

Win Briggs took the dive with a total of 88.4 points, outscoring two Dartmouth men who succeeded in outpointing Gordon Weir.
