Casting Finished For 'The Tempest'

Rehearsals begin tonight for the Harvard Theater Workshop's final production, Shakespeare's "The Tempest," director Albert Marre 1G said yesterday. The cast will include Robert Fletcher '50 as Prospero, Thayer David as Caliban, Jan Farrand as Ariel, and Naomi Raphaelson '50 as Miranda.

Castings, which were completed last night, are only temporary, Marre emphasized. Miss Raphaelson, who beat out four professional actresses for her part, still has plenty of work ahead, he said, in order to play Miranda when "The Tempest" opens May 4 in Brattle Hall.

Other leads will be played by Jerome T. Kilty '50, who will act the part of Stephano, "a drunken butler," Miles Morgan '50, who will be seen as Ferdinand, son to the King of Naples, and David Andrews as Trincule, the jester.

With the exception of Miss Raphaelson and Andrews, the lead performers also appeared in the HTW's presentation of "Troilus and Cressida" last winter. Kilty played Ulysses, David played the part of Pandarus, Fletcher was Hector, and Miss Farrand played Cressida.

This will be the last play done by the Theater Workshop before it leaves college to become a full time, professional group.
