Norris in NCAA Title Swim Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Ted Norris will share the University of North Carolina's pool in Chapel Hill with the best long-distance college freestylers in the country at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the finals of the NCAA 1500-meter freestyle.

Defending champion Bill Heusner of Northwestern will give the 1949 Eastern League champion his toughest competition, but Norris is a slight favorite for the national title since he beat Heusner last summer in Detroit to qualify for the American Olympic team.

Norris will probably compete tomorrow in the 440-yard freestyle against defending champion Bill Smith of Ohio State, Emile Estoclet and Johnny Moore of Yale, and Cadet Jack Craigle.
