Lowell House Winning Application-Blank Derby

Dunster's Stock Has Gone Up Since 1948

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dunster has shot up and Winthrop has slid down among freshman preferences since last year. Except for that, the rank list is almost exactly the same.

Applicants in 1948 gave a big plurality to Lowell House. Then came Winthrop, Eliot, Kirkland, Adams, Dunster, and Leverett.

The big surprise last year was the high place for Winthrop House, which many students had applied to because they felt it was easy to get into. According to this year's poll, several freshmen have chosen Dunster for the same reason.

Last year's freshmen also chose friends in the Houses as the big factor in their choice. About 35 percent gave this as the reason, while location was another high-ranking consideration.

Other students mentioned food, athletics, facilities, and "bathtubs."
