Preliminary matches in the Freshman and Inter-House Wrestling Tournament started rolling yesterday afternoon in the wrestling rooms of the Indoor Athletic Building. The matches produced six pins, two decisions, and one default.

This afternoon's matches will wind up the preliminary phase of both tourneys.

Freshman competition in the tournament began very slowly yesterday afternoon with only one out of three scheduled matches taking place. E. B. Leonard, of Mower, pinned C. D. Denby, of Lionel, in the sole contest of the 145-pound weight class.

Inter-House competition was more spirited. Tussles in the 145-, 155-, 175- pound, and unlimited classes made up in vitality what they lacked in talent.

C. F. McKhan, of Kirkland House, entered the finals the easy way when C. D. Baker, also of Kirkland, failed to put in an appearance.

In the heavyweight division, W. M. Davis of Lowell House defeated P. Connolly of Eliot House by a fall, and R. H. Bender of Kirkland House decisioned E. Sax of Leverett.

E. P. Bierrie of Leverett waged the most spectacular battle of the afternoon when he pinned 155-pounder R. Harrington of Eliot in a cradle hold.
