In three of the varsity matches the Crimson had to come from behind to win. Four of the five contests with the Union Boat Club went to five sets.
The freshman match was one-sided, with the Crimson taking all but one contest in straight sets. In the one closely fought '53 match, it was the MIT player who came from behind to tie the Crimson man before losing in the fifth set.
