The freshman swimming squad swam its way to an overwhelming victory last night by outscoring MIT, 52 to 23. Losing only two events, the 100 yard backstroke and the 150 yard medley relay, the Yardlings defeated the Engineers easily.
Star of the meet was Dave Hedberg who swam the 100-yard free style in 53.2 seconds, only 2 seconds away from the pool record for this event. Hedberg's time was better by 5 seconds than the varsity time swum last night.
Outstanding freshman squad members included Bob Angle who won the 150-yard individual medley and swam the lead in the 150-yard medley relay, and Phil Pratt, who won the 50 yard free style.
