The Varsity B squash team dropped a close match to the University Club Blues, 3 to 2, yesterday afternoon at the Hemingway Gymnasium, while the Varsity C team defeated the Newton Square Squash and Tennis Club by the same score.
Weakness in the lower positions proved the undoing of the B team, as the Blues swept both the fourth and fifth matches in straight sets. This was the third consecutive defeat for the B team, which had previously lost to the Union Boat Club and Lincoln's Inn by scores of 4 to 1.
The C squad, which earlier in the season routed the Union Boat Club, 5-0, was helped to victory by a Newton default in the third match.
University Club Blues vs. Varsity B Team: Symmes (H), defeated Kouman, 3-1; Lee defeated Richardson (H), 3-2; Wood (H) defeated Levin, 3-2; Roberts defeated Hunt (H), 3-0; Richmond defeated Foss (H), 3-0.
