The old question about the irresistible force meeting an immovable object should be answered this afternoon when the Eliot and Adams football teams meet in what will probably decide the intramural championship.
If the Elephants win, they will automatically take the championship, since they are the only undefeated team and Adams is closed to them in league standing. If Adams wins, they will tie for the first place.
Eliot still has one game to go in its schedule and consequently an Adams victory today may mean the championship if Eliot loses its next game.
T Formation
The Elephants, featuring a T formation and a Notre Dame huddle, capped a season of lopsided scores last week by defeating Dudley, 27 to 0. The outcome of today's game will hinge upon Adams' ability to stop galloping Pete Reiner and Rick Hudner, who have been responsible for most of Eliot's touchdowns.
The Adams single wing, however, has been decisively weakened by the loss of Bill Boucher, start guard, who has hurt his leg, and Hank Foster, end, who broke his ankle in the Leverett game.
Secret Weapon
Adams may produce a secret weapon in the form of fullback Guck Mahoney, who has announced that be may play tomorrow in spite of hour exams this week and lack of practice. Mahoney, former netfolk, Virginia, Naval Base star, is reputed to have thrown a 70-yard pass in his first intra-service game and can run 100-yards in ten seconds.
Winthrop will play Dunster in the other game tomorrow. The Puritans, who have won two, lost one and tied two, are favored by at least two touchdowns over the Funsters, who have lost all their games.
Next Friday, the House teams will travel to Yale to play the Eli college teams. Every House has a traditional rival College on the New Haven campus, and plays it each year.
