Blood

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

PBH's syringe and needle men have located three times more blood at Harvard this year than has ever been contributed in the past. With pledges now over the 600 mark, the drive will undoubtedly set a new record in blood gleaned from the student body. Credit for this expansion must go to the fine organizational work that was apparent this year and to good solicitations in a few houses.

A breakdown of the pledges by Houses reveals several contrasts caused by the varying quality of solicitation work. Winthrop House led the field with 112 pledges, followed by Lowell with 88. Kirkland, Dunster, Adams, and Leverett had average showings of 50 to 60 pints. Eliot pledged 30, as much as Winthrop's B entry, which houses drive chairman William Polk. The Yard total was lower than expected--118. The Radcliffe drive netted 40 girls willing to give blood.

Now that PBH a record number of pledges, it will have to follow them up next week to get a good percentage to show up for the actual blood letting. Unfortunately, the post-Princeton weekend scheduling will increase the alcoholic content of most of the blood. If PBH can overcome this difficulty, the well-conducted drive may reach a fine conclusion.
