Busy School Gets History Of Firm's Labor Relations

A 50,000 page story of how the management of a large firm worked harmoniously with its employees for 20 years was presented to the Business School library yesterday by Thompson Products, Inc.

The report, a day-to-day record of the recent experience of the firm, is a detailed history of its dealings with its employees throughout the years of the depression, the National Recovery Act, the rise of individual unions in the United States, and World War II.

No National Union

Thompson Products Inc., has had no national labor union in its plant in the time covered by this report and has weathered the period without a strike.

Professor Arthur H. Cole, librarian of the Business School, upon receiving the gift, said, "Here is the labor-management relations of the past 20 years compressed into one beautiful case history."

"Some people will remember Mr. Crawford as the militant industrialist who challenged the efforts of the wartime National Labor Relations to stifle free speech on the apart of employers," Cole said.
