Business School Receives $50,000 From Grant Fund

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A gift of $50,000 to the Business School by the Grant Foundation was announced last night by Dean Donald K. David. The money is to be used to assist students working for degrees and businessmen who attend the special courses of the Advance Management Training program.

This brings the year's contribution total to approximately $400,000 and still leaves a vast difference between the present total and the sum necessary to match the Rockefeller donation. The donation of $5,000,000 given to the Business School by John D. Rockefeller Jr. last spring was made under the condition that a sum equal to it would be raised by July 1, 1950.

Aid to Advanced Management

The Grant gift is the first instance in which funds have specifically provided for scholastic aid to members of the Advanced Management group. The Grant Foundation, established in 1936 by William T. Grant, chairman of the board, of W. T. Grant department stores, had previously set up a scholarship fund at the Business School in 1939.

In announcing the gift Dean David said, "We are indeed grateful for this evidence of faith in the role of the Business School in our society. In view of the increasing need for scholarship and loan funds, particularly after government aid expires, such a gift is especially gratifying."
