Garber Privately Tells Faculty That Harvard Must Rethink Messaging After GOP Victory
A strong Cornell team smeared the Crimson cavalrymen, 24 to 4, last Saturday in one of the most uneven polo matches ever seen at Ithaca.
The Crimson, including Tim White and Nick Arundel at number one, Tom Calhoun at number two, and Morgan Davis at number three, gradually wilted under the pressure as the match progressed.
In the first period, Davis managed to tally once for Harvard, while Cornell scored four. Harvard fouled twice, but no scores were made on the penalty shots.
Calhoun and White each scored in the second period, but they were completely swamped as Cornell poured on a barrage of eight goals.
In the last two periods, Calhoun scored the only Crimson goal as the superior teamwork and flashy passes of the Cornell team paid off for an even dozen.
Cornell, led by Ed Grano who scored six times and Bill Emerson who scored five, proved themselves tops in every phase of the game.
