Yardling football Team wins Over Dartmouth, 21-19

The modest margin of two extra points was all the hard-driving freshman football team needed to beat Dartmouth at Hanover yesterday, 21 to 19.

Bill Kierstead, stretching his string to six in a row, was infallible on three tries, to give the Yardlings their second win of the season.

Harvard opened the scoring a fullback Jerry Blits, running spark of the squad, crossed the goal line on a seven yard plunge. Kierstead made it seven points, but the Dartmouth yearlings came right back with a 70 yard drive to score at the beginning of the second period.

It looked as if the Indian freshmen wouldn't need the extra point they missed on the first try as they galloped 77 yards for another touchdown in the same period and added the point to lead, 13 to 7.

But Henry Lamar's men responded nobly with a long drive; John Ederer shot over on a long end run, and Kierstead made the half time score 14 to 13.

The third period was bitterly fought but neither team was able to get anywhere. Harvard opened the fourth period by pouncing on a fumble on the Indian 36.

It took the freshmen's best efforts, however, to get another touchdown. Twelve plays were required before Jerry Biltz got his second and Harvard's third Td on a three yard push.

Dartmouth followed the game pattern by returning the kickoff all the way to score on a pass.
