Yardling skippers sailed to a victory over MIT, Andover, Exeter, and Nichols Junior College yesterday in the Freshman Invitational Regatta held on the Charles near MIT. Perfect sailing by Charlie Hoppin in the A division accounted for 18 of the 31 points scored by the Freshmen.
With George Crocker as crewman, Hoppin racked up a perfect score by taking first place in three consecutive races.
John Roosevelt and Fred Fawcett placed third and second in two races in the B division with Roosevelt at the helm. Fawcett took over for the third race, and the two placed third again to earn a total of 13 points.
The freshmen's 31 points topped scores of 27, 21, 20, and 20 by MIT, Andover, Exeter and Nichols Junior College respectively.
The Regatta was sponsored by Harvard.
