Yardling Football Team Plays Holy Cross '53 Today

Yesterday the freshman football team ran Army plays against the varsity. Today, fortified by this bracing experience, the team will run its own plays against Holy Cross freshmen.

The game, second of the Yardling season, begins at 3 p.m. on Soldiers Field. The season-opener against And-over Saturday ended in a 26 to 13 defeat.

Coach Henry Lamar will make only two changes in his opening lineup of last Saturday; "they'll work together much better after the extra practice and one game," said Lamar. He will use few reserves, standing with the squad.

Newcomers to the lineup are Dick Heidtman at left guard and hard and fast-running Paul Dillingham at fullback. Dillingham scored one of the touchdowns against Andover.

As for Holy Cross ... well, when Lamar does any scouting, it's for the varsity. "I don't know a thing about Holy Cross," is his comment.

The freshmen operate out of a T-formation, but offer a single-wing play now and then to baffle the opposition.

The starting lineup:

Hank Teepka, le; Hob Stargle, lt; Dick Heidtman, lg; Buddy Lemay, c; George Batchelder or John Weber, rg; John Nichols, rt; Stan Britton, re; Gill O'Neil, qb; Hardy Cox, lh; John Ederer, rh; Paul Dillingham, fb.
