'53 Nominates Union Candidates Tonight for Election on Tuesday

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Nominating petitions for the Union Committee candidates will be filed with Yard proctors tonight as the first freshman election of the year gets underway.

Under the new Freshman Charter, formulated last spring by the Student Council, 27 delegate positions are open, including four from Dudley and Matthews, three from Thayer, two from Grays, Straus, Stoughton, Hollis, Holworthy and Weld, and one each from other Yard dorms.

The new system differs from last year's in that delegates to the 1952 Union Committee were appointed by the proctors, the Secretary of the Union, and the Dean's Office rather than elected by the students.

Elections will take place in each dorm Tuesday. The new committee will hold its first meeting Thursday, when it will have dinner with President Conant before he addresses the Freshman class.
