Campbell Feted After 50 Years

Leon Campbell, Pickering Memorial Astronomer, will be honored by 125 colleagues for his 50 years of service at the College Observatory at a dinner at the Hotel Continental tonight.

Guests will include members of the Bond Astronomical Club and of the Amatour Telescope Makers of Boston. Professor Charles Smiley, director of the Ladd Observatory of Brown University, will represent the American Association of Variable Star Observers.

Campbell has been on the staff of the Observatory since 1899 and became Pickering Memorial Astronomer in 1931.
