Felton Sets N.Y. 35 lb. Shot Mark

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Sam Felton '48 took time off from the Business School this weekend to break the New York 35 pound shotput record by over a foot. His 57 foot 9 1/2 inch heave, only 10 inches short of the world's record, helped the New York Athletic Club into fourth place Saturday afternoon in the senior New York Metropolitan track championships on Columbia's wind-swept South Field.

Only two men in track history have thrown the 35 pound weight further--Niles Perkins with the world indoor record of 58 feet 7 1/2 inches in 1940, and Irving Folsworth with the National A.A.U. mark of 58 feet 1 1/2 inches in 1936.
