Detective Captain Patrick Ready was not on the trail of the near-naked sex offender who disappeared down Appleton st. last night.
The wanted man, clad only in a shirt, sprang from behind some bushes at twilight and accosted Mrs. Charles Mozier, directing some obscene language at her.
Captain Ready disclosed that his suspect was an elderly man who lives in the neighborhood and had previously caused trouble when drunk, but "never anything like this."
"I hope I'm as proud of myself as he is when I'm that old," added the Cambridge gendarme.
Mrs. Mozier, the victim, eluded the malefactor and fled into a nearby house to call the police. She is the daughter of Julian L. Coolidge '95, professor of Mathematics, emeritus, and former master of Lowell House.
