Injury-Ridden Varsity Faces Lowly Nassau, Quaker Nines

When a bunch of cripples play a pair of teams that are currently sharing seventh place in the Ivy League, it can either be ludicrous or produce a couple of tight, interesting contests. Anyway, the Crimson Varsity nine faces off against Princeton this afternoon and Pennsylvania tomorrow in their second straight weekend on the road.

Both of Harvard's opponents sport identical one and four records in league competition and are tied for eighth in team batting with unsharp 181 averages. Even so, the Crimson ranks below both Nassau and the Quakers with no wins and three losses, followed by Brown with four defeats.

Iva Godin, who stopped B.U. in his last outing on Tuesday, is scheduled to oppose Princeton, while Penn will come up against Red Connelly, victim of a one-man West Point onslaught last weekend. Relief, if needed, will be forthcoming from Barry Turner, Herb Merser, and Charley Roche, in that order.

Many Injuries

Altogether, it's a patched up Crimson nine that will try to climb up the Ivy ladder a rung or two. Ernie Maunine was hurt in the B.U. game and will not make the trip; nor will Armie Essayon, who is still ailing with a leg injury sustained in the Dartmouth game. Tom Sullivan will fill in at shortstop and Web Durant will catch.
