Varsity Edges B.U., 4-3

Good pitching by Ira Godin and Chuck Roche and hitting when hitting was needed combined yesterday afternoon to give the Varsity baseball team its second straight victory over Boston University by a score of 4 to 3 at B.U.'s Riverside Field.

Wally Coulson's single to right field scored Chip Gannon from third in the seventh inning to break a 8 to 3 tie and provide the winning margin.

Godin pitched only the first four frames before retiring to rest for the weekend League contests, but fared very well in his short stay on the mound, allowing only two singles and no runs. Roche pitched the remainder of the game and was slightly less effective, giving up four of the six B.U. blows, one of them a triple, and all the runs.

Many Left Stranded

He was most successful with men on the bases, however, leaving two B.U. men stranded in each of the four innings he worked. In the ninth he set the side down on four pitched balls.

Cliff Crosby was back in the catching slot and led the batters, with two singles and a triple in four appearances at the plate. Roche and Coulson each collected a pair of singles, and Jim Kenary celebrated his return to action with a double.
