Tech Net Squad Bows To Varsity, Freshmen

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Engineers hardly tested Crimson tennis players yesterday, as the Varsity blanked their M.I.T. foes, 9 to 0, after the Yardlings had polished off theirs, 5 to 2.

In the Varsity tussle, all but one of the six singles matches were swept in straight sets, with Ted Backe, Steve Pratt, Vince Brandt, Bill Wightman, Jay Ager, and Ted Bullard breezing to easy wins. The three doubles duets also captured their matches in straight sets.

The yearling match saw Captain Bayard Robb suffer his first loss of the season, when M.I.T. ace Monty Salvatage downed him, 6-4, 3-6, 6-0. Only one of the three doubles encounters escaped a late afternoon rain.
